Summer Style Guide: Maxi Dresses + Skirts

Why hello! I’m so excited to be blogging today- it’s been almost a month since I sat down and made a post. It may not feel that way since I’ve had a little bit of content out the past few weeks, but since I’ve been incredibly busy back at work since the stay at home order in Ohio has lifted, and I moved in the midst of the craziness of readjusting, I batched up a few blog posts ahead of time because I knew if I wouldn’t have done so I wouldn’t have published like any content for a month lol. So it feels so good to be able to have the time finally to sit down and get some content out.

Today we’re talking about one of my favorite summer trends every year: the maxi trend. Now, when this first came out and I was a lot younger everything was too long on me so I eventually gave up on wearing anything maxi styled and in turn disliked it (I’m 5’1 for reference) but now that times gone on I find many more of these that are short girl friendly and I love it. Maxi dresses elongate my figure so I don’t look as short as I actually am, and I love the simplistic elegant feel you get with it. Plus, they’re SO easy to style! They’re probably one of the easiest pieces for me to dress up or dress down.

Here are my favorite ways to style them:

black crop top + pleated printed skirt + dainty necklaces + white sneaks
black maxi dress + chambray top + sunnies + leather belt + sandals
floral skirt+ bralette or bandeau + flip flops + floppy hat
black maxi dress + combat boots + black sunnies + military jacket
black maxi dress+ blazer + flats + clutch
black maxi dress + statement necklace + platform wedges + graphic tee

Most of these I styled with a black maxi dress just because that’s the most simple and versatile for you to get a feel for the look I designed, but if you’re looking for another color, style, print, etc., my favorite go to shops for my maxi pieces are Mode Elle Boutique (use code TIANA15 for 15% off,) Amazon, Target, and H&M!

Thanks for hanging out today! Felt so good to be back talking about skirts and dresses galore and escaping the craziness of the world for a bit lol
